Line Maintenance

The Voyager Line Maintenance team perform a multi-layered role in support of military and civilian flight operations in the UK and around the globe. Based at Royal Air Force Brize Norton, the team comprises of CAA Part-66 licensed and non-licensed AirTanker Sponsored reservist and civilian engineers, supplemented by Royal Air Force engineers. Sponsored Reservist and Royal Air Force engineers provide overseas Line Station support and also perform Flying Engineer duties in a challenging but rewarding working environment.  This diverse role exposes Voyager Line Maintenance engineers to a variety of disciplines within the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer role whilst also providing the opportunity to experience global travel, which is unique to AirTanker’s operational commitments.

Base Maintenance

Airtanker Services Base Maintenance has grown in capabilities hugely over the past 5 years rising from small C Checks to the deepest level of maintenance 12 year (8C) which includes a full cabin removal, Engine/ Pylon removal and major repair requirements. Alongside the deep 12 Year maintenance checks we are capable of landing gear replacements setting us aside as one of the only MRO’s in Europe with these sets of capabilities. A valued and extremely experienced team of Engineers push our skillsets forward to taking on more complex structural repairs and techniques that set us as leaders in our field/ platform. With a strong sense of development taking staff through licence completion and a well established apprentice programme we see ourselves as investors in our people with an onsite training academy to increase our capabilities. 

Part M and Part CAMO

Part M is the CAA regulation that all UK airlines must adhere to and defines the standards for an aircraft to be considered airworthy. 

Part CAMO covers the requirements an organisation needs to meet to manage airworthiness.


Planning

Maintenance planning is a critical step to ensure the ongoing airworthiness, safety, and reliability of the aircraft fleet through scheduled inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs, while minimizing downtime and optimizing maintenance costs.

Delivering the right parts at the right time, cost and quality to our customers; providing an outstanding customer service.

Technical Services Department

The main role of Technical Services is to ensure that the fleet remains compliant with all Mandated airworthiness documentation.


Technician Career Path

Aeronautical Engineering Apprentice (year 1)

You will spend the first 9 months of your apprenticeship in fully funded accommodation studying for your modules at Kemble Airport.

Aeronautical Engineering Apprentice (years 2 and 3)

At this stage, you will hone the skills learnt at Kemble back in our Hangar filling in your CAP741 books preparing for your End point Assessment.

Trainee Technician (year 4)

You will then begin taking independence in elements of work in preparation for becoming a competent Technician
