Your Application
How do I apply?
All our vacancies can be found on our careers site. Once you’ve identified a suitable vacancy, simply click on apply and follow the instructions.
Can I send in my CV to be considered for any ‘open’ vacancies in the future?
We would ask that you apply directly for roles that you are interested in. If a suitable role is not available, you are able to register your interest on the careers website.
How can I be notified of any new vacancies?
You can register your interest for future vacancies and sign up for job alerts on our careers website
What do you look for when you review my application?
The Hiring Manager will assess your skills and competencies on your CV & Cover Letter to determine how suitable you are for the role. Whether the outcome is successful or unsuccessful, all candidates will be made aware.
I am an international candidate and wish to be considered for a role. Can I apply?
All roles at AirTanker require candidates to obtain BPSS and Security Clearance. To be successful you will need to have the right to live and work in the UK and have been a current UK resident for 3 years. A pre-screen will be conducted with successfully sifted candidates prior to interview to ensure we can continue with their application.

Our interview process is variable dependant on the role you are applying for. You can find details at the bottom of each job description.
The Interview Process
This is our and your opportunity to get to know each other, here is some information to help you prepare for your interview.
· Please research AirTanker and the role thoroughly, prior to interview.
· Our interviews are competency based, and will consist of values and technical questions.
· We score candidates on their ability to utilize their skills, knowledge and experience when answering questions. Researching the STAR ( Situation, Task, Action, Result) method may help you structure your answers.
· Be yourself and be prepared, we would advise reading your interview confirmation thoroughly and using the map provided to plan your journey.
· The dress code for our interviews is smart/formal.
Values based questions:
We will ask four values based Questions so it would be best to prepare for all. Please see some example questions below

Safety:
1. Can you give an example of a situation where you have disagreed with an approach your manager was taking to a task? How did you handle this?
2. Can you give me an example of a time where you have felt something is unsafe? What did you do?
Integrity
1. Can you describe a time when you agreed to a commitment with your customer (internal/external) which was later not deliverable by the business you worked for? How did you manage this scenario to support both interests?
2. Describe a time when things didn’t turn out as you had planned, what did you do to, how did you address the issue?
Commitment
1. Can you give an example of a time where you had to deal with a customer issue, and how you placed the customer at the centre of your approach to resolve it?
2. Who are our customers? Using an example from your previous experience, please explain how you would go about building relationships with these customers.
One Team
1. Please give an example of a time where you have had to adapt your communication style for different audiences in a team environment.
2. Can you give an example of when you’ve worked on a team project? How did you manage the different communication styles within the team?
Innovation
1. Can you describe a time when you have improved a business process, and what impact this had on your role or the wider team?
2. Can you give an example of an innovative solution that you have created and how you implemented this within the business?
Technical Questions
These will be unique to the role. We advise that you read the role profile thoroughly before your interview, and have examples ready, that relate to the role requirements.
Assessment Days
For volume roles we operate assessment days. These assessments are individual to the roll, but usually consist of the following:
· Individual task – this could be a written exercise or a case study.
· Group Task – this is usually a discussion exercise to measure how you interact with others in a team environment.
· Interview – Please read the advice above.
Will interviews be held in person or virtually?
This will depend on the role you have applied for. All candidates will be made aware in plenty of time where the interview will be held.
Do you treat virtual interviews the same as onsite interviews?
We treat virtual interviews the same as in-person. If your interview is virtual, make sure you are in a quiet setting with a neutral and professional background and that you have a stable internet connection that allows you to use your camera during the interview. We recommend you test this prior to the interview.
How should I dress for my interview?
We suggest smart business attire for interviews.
Do you offer travel and accommodation costs to attend the assessment?
We do not offer reimbursement for travel and accommodation costs associated with this.
After your assessment
How long do you keep my application for?
Applications will be kept on our system for 2 years
What other checks do you complete as part of the application process?
Along with the BPSS & Security Clearance checks, all roles will be subjected to drugs and alcohol testing at Airtanker’s discretion.
The Assessment Process
Any tips for preparing for my assessment or interview?
We would recommend researching AirTanker, use the STAR method (situation, task, action, result) when answering questions, dress professionally and be yourself.
Do you use ability testing as part of all your assessment processes?
This is dependent on the role you have applied for. Candidates will be given prior warning should this be applicable.
Life at AirTanker
Is there an option to work from home?
Airtanker supports a hybrid working policy which can be agreed with the hiring manager. The working pattern will be made clear during the pre-screening. Hybrid working does not apply for shift pattern working or on site roles.
Do you offer part-time contracts and flexible working?
